UC108 and PC108: Wider Format TIJ4.0 Print Solutions

The PC108 and UC108 support the needs of wider-width,  high-volume printing applications that demand higher speed and higher resolution. Based on TIJ 4.0 technology, and featuring a maximum print width of 8.5 inches (216mm), it boasts a native resolution of 1200 dpi and impressive throughput speeds of up to 600 feet/min when configured at 600/600 dpi. The print heads utilize HP’s micro-recirculation technology, which minimizes the need for servicing and reduces decap issues.

This print solution is designed for easy integration into almost any production line, suitable for Mail, Graphics and  Packaging applications.  It delivers high-quality prints, including alphanumeric characters, date codes, lot codes, graphics, barcodes, and much more.

Micro-Recirculation Capability

Inkjet printing works by ejecting ink droplets from nozzles to create images. When a nozzle is idle, evaporation of water can cause pigment and other solids to accumulate, forming a film that hinders the ejection of droplets and leads to printing defects. Often, multiple droplets must be ejected before normal print quality resumes.

To prevent solvent evaporation, ink recirculation is used. This method keeps ink continuously flowing past the nozzle, ensuring it remains fresh and well-mixed, even during periods of inactivity. Each nozzle its own small pump instead of one large pump. Ink flows through tiny U-shaped loops connected to a large reservoir. One side has a thermal resistor with a nozzle that ejects ink, while the other side has a similar resistor that creates a circular ink flow, acting as a tiny pump.

This design ensures a steady flow of fresh ink to each nozzle, keeping them ready to print without defects, even after being idle.
